LAMF winter concert series to wrap up with Franz Schubert piece
The Lakes Area Music Festival will present the finale of a four-concert winter series at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd.
The concert is open to the public, with no tickets required.
In his String Quintet in C major, Franz Schubert adds a second cello to the standard string quartet, enhancing the richness and dark subtleties of his final instrumental work. Longtime musicians of the Lakes Area Music Festival will bring the piece to life.
Performers will include violinists Jonathan Magness and Rebecca Corruccini, both of the Minnesota Orchestra; violist Samantha Rodriguez, of the Rochester Philharmonic; and cellists Sarah Lewis, of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and LAMF artistic director Scott Lykins.
To open the program, soprano Bergen Baker will offer several selections from the German lieder of Robert Schumann and Hugo Wolf, with Lykins at the piano.
Magness, Rodriguez, Lewis and Lykins are all founding musicians of the Lakes Area Music Festival, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this season.
This concert will also be performed at 7 p.m.Thursday, May 3, at the Woman's Club of Minneapolis, where LAMF is currently Artists in Residence.
