Former Brainerd Police Chief John Bolduc has accepted a new job closer to the Midwest to lead the Nebraska State Patrol. Bolduc left Brainerd in 2010 to be the police chief for Harbor Police with the Unified Port of San Diego, as he is pictured here in uniform.

Later the same day while approaching two adult anglers who were fishing from shore and drinking beer, at a remote state forest area lake, the two anglers tossed their beer cans in the lake. The two said they panicked because they thought it was illegal to drink beer in the state forest. They were informed having a beer was OK but throwing garbage into the lake was a bit of a problem. Sullivan assisted with four red breasted merganser ducklings that were rescued in the ditch off State Highway 371. A state trooper was in the area and responded to ensure the duckling's safety after citizens completed the rescue. Sullivan assisted with the ducklings transport for care. Illustration
